Sawa, Hats and 5 Questions

サワ・ヴォーターズは、遠目にはミステリアスでつかみどころのないように見えますが、実はとても優しくて…ただちょっとシャイなだけ。彼女は、特にメンズのデザインに力を入れる日本人帽子デザイナーです。世界的に有名なハットデザイナー、スティーブン・ジョーンズのロンドンスタジオで技術と創造的可能性を磨きました。　
現在は東京に拠点を置くサワが、親切にも僕たちの質問にいくつか答えてくれました。

Sawa Vaughters, from the distance  a mysterious and elusive but in fact very kind and… just shy human being is a Japanese milliner with a particular focus on men's headwear design. Sawa mastered her skills and creative potential at the London studio of worldwide renowned milliner Stephen Jones.
Now Tokyo based Sawa was kind to answers these few questions for us.

1 - あなたの職業は何ですか？

1 - what do you do for your work?

2- あなたの デザインスタイル を３つのワードで表現するとしたら？
シュール  / ロック / ユーモア (少しダーク)
2- Could you describe your design style in 3 words?
Surrealism / Rock / Humour (slightly dark)

3- インスピレーションはどこから湧いてくるのですか？
見るもの、食べるもの、感情、全て
3- Where does your inspiration come from?
It comes from everything I see, I eat, I feel.

4- スティーブン・ジョーンズ氏 の所で働いた感想は？（何を一番学びましたか？）
それを語るのには最低１週間は必要です。( 技術はもとより、相手を思うこと、そして誠実であること。）
4- How was it working with/for Stephen Jones? (what did you learn the most?)
I would need at least a week to even begin telling you about it.　(Sincerity, seeing eye-to-eye & of course technique.)

5-あなたの次の大きなゴールは？/ あなたの次のプランは？
もっとたくさんの人に出会い、世界中の方々にも帽子を手に取っていただきたい。
5- What’s your next big goal? /or What are your plans for the near future?
I want to meet lots of people and hope people overseas can enjoy my hats.

僕は彼女を個人的に知ることができてとても嬉しく思っていますが、実は4月1日から2日の2日間、新宿伊勢丹メンズ館で開催されるトランクショーで、誰でも彼女に直接会うことができます。カスタムメイドのハットを注文することもできますよ。

I am really glad to know her personally and actually everyone can have a chance to meet her in person at her two days trunk show at Isetan Mens Shinjuku, 1st-2nd April. There will be also opportunity to order custom-made hat.
