久々に公開された動画では、「Duck! Rabbit!」というアーチーくんお気に入りの本をメーガン妃が読み聞かせしている様子を映しているが、撮影したのは父親であるハリー王子。1歳になったアーチーくんが夢中になって本をめくっており、その様子はハリー王子の幼いときとそっくりだ。
本を読み終えると、ハリー王子の「ブラボー！」と絶叫する言葉が響き渡り、すっかりイクメンぶりが板についた様子も伺える。
今回、夫妻がこのような動画を公開することになったのは、「Save with the Stories」というキャンペーンをサポートするためだ。日米で広がっているこの動きは、新型コロナウィルスの感染拡大により、影響を受けた子どもたちを支援するもので、現在、キャンペーンに賛同する米英のセレブたちがこぞって、SNSに絵本や本を読む動画をアップ。寄付を呼び掛けている。
息子の誕生日という大事な記念日に、この活動を推進することを明確にしたハリー王子とメーガン妃。王室を離れても、慈善活動に力を注ぐことをライフワークとしていくのだろう。
